274 Bohemia
send this to a friendSabaku's "Bohemia" design was influenced by a pervasive folk superstition found throughout Asia. It is believed that mirrors can protect a person or even a home from black magic or the evil eye. It is a principle of Feng-Shui, a type of Chinese geomancy, that abodes should have mirrors placed outward in every opening in order to avert negative spiritual influences. In contemporary Jaipur and Jodhpur, India a unique folk custom of embroidering mirrors into clothing endures. The jeweled surface of the mirrors illuminates vestments while, perhaps, serving a spiritual purpose as well. The silver "mirror" adorned flower motifs in our design come from Mexico and the Middle East as well as India.
